How to Change/Update Name in an Aadhaar?

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has recently announced significant updates regarding the procedures for Aadhaar re-enrolment and updates. The revised rules, which came into effect on January 16, 2023, bring about a more accessible and streamlined process for residents and non-residents (NRIs) alike.

One of the notable changes is the introduction of new forms tailored for both residents and NRIs who seek to register or update their Aadhaar details. Notably, Aadhaar holders now have a window of ten years from the date of Aadhaar generation to update their documents or details, offering greater flexibility.

Updating Aadhaar details is now more convenient than ever before. Whether through the UIDAI website, mobile app, or by submitting a form at the Enrollment Centre, individuals can easily make the necessary changes to their Aadhaar information.

These amendments mark a departure from the 2016 rules, emphasizing online updating and providing a simpler and more comprehensive approach to Aadhaar re-enrolment and updates.

You can submit your Proof of Identity (PoI) and Proof of Address (PoA) documents for free until 14 March 2024 on the UIDAI website.
