Unlocking the Process: A Step-by-Step Guide on How to Update Your Mobile Number in Aadhaar Card
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) recently issued a notification detailing the revised rules for Aadhaar re-enrolment and updates. New forms have been introduced for both residents and non-residents (NRIs) who wish to register or update their Aadhaar details.
Note. Aadhaar holders can now update their documents or information within ten years from the date of Aadhaar. generation This can be done conveniently through the UIDAI website or mobile application or by submitting the form at the Enrollment Centre.
Unlike the 2016 rules, these changes, which came into force on 16.01.2023, facilitate online renewal and provide easier and more comprehensive access to Aadhaar enrollment and updates.
You can submit your Proof of Identity (PoI) and Proof of Address (PoA) documents for free until 14 March 2024 on the UIDAI website.
How to Update Mobile Number in Aadhaar Card?
The procedure to change your mobile number on the Aadhaar is mentioned below
Step 1 - Visit Aadhaar Seva Kendra.
Step 2 - Complete the Update/Correction Aadhaar Form and include your mobile number in the form.
Step 3 - Submit the form.
Step 4 - Provide your biometrics to authenticate your information.
Step 5 - Pay the application fee of Rs.50.
Step 6 - An acknowledgement slip with the Update Request Number (URN) will be provided to you.
Step 7 - Use the URN to check the request status.
It takes 30 days for the new mobile number to be updated in Aadhaar's database. No documents need to be submitted to update the mobile number.

The documents required to update or make changes to your Aadhaar card have been classified into four categories
- Identity Proof - PAN Card/Passport/Driving Licence/Voter ID, etc.
- Relationship Proof - Passport/PDS Card/MNREGA Job Card/Pension Card, etc.
- Date of Birth Proof - Birth certificate/SLLC certificate/passport/PAN card, etc.
- Address Proof - Bank Passbook or Statement/Ration Card/Voter ID/Insurance Policy etc.
